»@myTabu« is a research project funded by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research. A therapist-based online-therapy for individuals who sexually abused children and individuals who consumed child sexual exploitation material under community supervision is to be developed and their effectiveness scientifically checked under »@myTabu«. This is used additionally to the regular probation measures. Furthermore, an online-based risk-assessment system will be established. Experts from the realms of forensic psychiatry and psychotherapy, forensic psychology, criminology and criminal law work together in this research poject to reduce the probability of a further offence and protect children better from sexual assaults.

A therapist-based online-therapy for individuals who sexually abused children and individuals, who consumed child sexual exploitation material under community supervision, is to be developed in the project. But the project especially aims to enable humans after release from prison a improved return in the society and therefore protect children from further assaults.

The clinical study started on March 1st, 2021.

You can participate in »@myTabu« if you received a penalty for a child abuse offence or use, distribution or sale of child abuse images (§176 ff., §184b StGB). Because »@myTabu« is a research project, please contact initially your probation officer, who can advise you whether a participation is possible and makes sense for you.

To register a client for participation in the online-intervention, several requirements must be fulfilled:
- You are probation officer.
- Your client was convicted under §176 StGB or §184b StGB and your is client is currently under probation service or supervision of conduct.
- Your client’s residual period of probation is at least 6 months.
- Your client has online access (smartphone, PC,tablet).
- You have already asked your client or your client approached you and expressed his interest in a participation.
If your client fulfills these requirements, we would be glad if you contact us, so that we could check the possibilities of participation.

Data protection has top priority during online-intervention’s development and also implementation. This is implemented consequently by corresponding technical measures. The clinical study including the data privacy concept is checked currently by the ethics committee of University Medical Centre Göttingen. The project’s data privacy statement could be apprehended here as soon as the corresponding ethics committee’s positive vote will be available.
The online intervention follows a strict data protection concept that has been checked and approved by the responsible data security officer. Please contact us if you have any further questions about data protection.
